Mary Gambino is a freelance makeup artist based in New York City. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, she has always had a love for art, fashion and beauty. She studied Fine Arts and received a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Restoration. After earning this degree she worked briefly in the restoration field before becoming a middle school art teacher. Over her twelve year teaching career she earned her Master's Degree in Art Education and was continually enriched by encouraging students to get in touch with their imagination and to rediscover their native creativity. While teaching she discovered an interest in makeup artistry. Throughout her teaching career she did makeup and hair for friends and family for many special occasions such as weddings, parties, and proms.
Her interest and enthusiasm for getting people ready for these threshold moments never subsided, and ultimately she decided to "take the leap” and pursue it professionally. She graduated from the Makeup Forever Academy in New York City and has been working in the industry ever since. Through her experience, she has developed a high level of technical skills as well as ever-growing knowledge of makeup artistry. Mary feels that her best work has a collaborative quality as she and her client work together towards achieving that "just right" look for the big day. This personal touch allows her clients to relax into the experience and enjoy the process more fully even if feeling tense with excitement. She is delighted to be doing something she truly loves, and is forever looking forward to her next project.
